Week 2: Camera Use: Self Directed Task Architecture DOF

Architecture – Photographs with a wide
and narrow DOF

Self Directed Task: Ormiston Primary School

F5.6 1/250 ISO100 24x70mm@35mm ORIGINAL
Narrow DOF. The hole in the orange box draws your eyes to see what is behind it. The bold colours are enhanced by the rain. Water on the ground gives reflections to these shapes.
Straight Angle.

F11 1/25 ISO100 24x70mm@24mm ORIGINAL
Wide DOF. The shadow of the stairs formed leading lines, drawing your eye to the left hand centre third. Straight Angle.

F16 1/20 ISO100 24x70mm@24mm ORIGINAL

Wide DOF. The leading lines draw us from the constraint of the architecture to the freedom of the sky. The texture of the water droplets on the handrail gives us a taste of that freedom.
Low Angle.

F5.6 1/15 ISO125 24x70mm@24mm ORIGINAL
Narrow DOF. Low Angle.

Over exposed and image not straight.

F5.6 1/640 ISO125 24x70mm@27mm ORIGINAL

Narrow DOF. Low Angle. Reflection of the clouds is punctuated by the panels of the fascia this gives an insight to what is in the sky. The vertical leading lines move the eyes up towards the sky. There are a number of triangles in the image.

Wide DOF. Low Angle.

The classrooms seem to be colliding with the reflection in the fascia.

F2.8 1/400 ISO125 24x70mm@24mm ORIGINAL
Narrow DOF. Low Angle,
over exposed. This has created a soft effect. Pastel colours of the sky, stairs and building. This photo has a futuristic feel to it. It almost like an artists impression.

F2.8 1/500 ISO100 24x70mm@41mm ORIGINAL
Narrow DOF. Low Angle. This bench is in stark contrast to the rest of buildings as it is the only galvanised piece of furniture.
